Fire Stopping is required between compartmentalised walls and floors. However due to breaches from old and new services penetrating into these walls and floors it has been giving fire, smoke and heat the opportunity to spread vertically and laterally, rapidly and with devastating effect. Firestopping is the sealing of these gaps to ensure the integrity of the compartment walls and floors.

Fire stopping is vital in maintaining compartmentation and preventing the spread of fire and smoke.
